Born in 3658 BBY on Dromund Kaas, Ianthe is the only child of Velan and Kyral. The Vitiate Empire proved to be harsh and unforgiving on her parentage, creating a legacy of shame that would make life very difficult for the Pureblood.
In 3644 BBY, a rival slew Velan. This failure would resonate through her family and the academy on Korriban. The first selection committee Ianthe attended snubbed the young woman in favor of more alien acolytes, and acolytes of low birth. It left a seething hatred in her heart for the man she called her father. Ianthe shed no tears at his funeral ceremony, cursing his weakness for holding her back.
Her opportunity to train on Korriban came again in 3646, and again the committee ignored Ianthe, pushing her further into despair and anger. Every day she was left on Dromund Kaas became a mockery to her birth, just as her birth was now a mockery because of her father. One year later her mother left the Sith, choosing a less prestigious life of servitude in the Vitiate Empire's intelligence agency.

3636 BBY and the selection committee for training in the Korriban academy, once again, rejected Ianthe for her father's failure. Years of burning, passionate hatred created in her a disdain for the Sith Academy and for the Empire in which she lived. Birth played a heavy role in her stagnation on Dromund Kaas. With no regrets she killed her own mother as she slept, and left the world seeking out the False Empire on Nogatan. If the Vitiate Empire would do nothing to embrace her potential and strength then perhaps she could find a home where the unwanted remained.
